Why I like this Photograph #9

This photograph is from a series I worked on last winter (winter of 2023) titled “Different Lenses” The goal of the project was to express photographically how different people see the same thing differently. This is my favorite image from the series mostly because it resonates deeply with me. When I look at it, I mainly see nostalgia as well as hope for the future. I believe this has been achieved with a combination of the soft focus and earthy color palette. The person could be walking to something or away from something or some combination of both allowing the viewer their own interpretation. I also love the square format. Compositionally the tree branches somewhat frame the person, and the person is not in the center of the frame. My eye does not wander around and does not want to leave the frame. The photograph also asks many questions which I believe is always important in a strong photograph.
