Why I like this Photograph #10

At the time of this writing, I’ve spent a few weeks with this photograph since making it. I find myself returning to it often and the inevitable question came to me. Why do I like it? Why do I continue to return to it? What is it about the photograph that sustains my intertest?

Some back story on the photograph should place it into a context that will make more sense. We recently took a trip back to Michigan in our Airstream. We did return to the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore area and added our first adventure to the Upper Peninsula or the UP as it’s often called.

One of the main attractions on the UP is the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore on Lake Superior which is where this photo was made. The best way to see and appreciate the beauty of the Lakeshore is by boat so that’s what we did. This photograph was made on the return trip during sunset.

It’s not any technical details or composition that is why I like it although all of that I feel is working well. It’s the memories of the adventure experiencing the beauty of Pictured Rocks and Lake Superior with my wife that this photograph represents. Our travel and adventures are important to us and carry strong value and meaning.
